Seventeen years ago today, Nirvana lead singer Kurt Cobain took his own life. There have been reports that Duff McKagan was one of the last people to see the rocker when they happened to be on the same flight to Seattle together. MTV asked the former Guns N’ Roses bassist if that was the case. More after the jump.

You may remember, Cobain’s body was discovered on April 8th, 1994 by an electrician who arrived at Kurt’s home to install a security system. Kurt had been lying there for days after having shot himself. A suicide note was found at the scene, addressed to Kurt’s childhood imaginary friend, “Boddah,” that said, paraphrasing, “I haven’t felt the excitement of listening to as well as creating music, along with really writing… for too many years now.”
