Rusk County Sheriffs have a man in custody after he stole a patrol car during a traffic stop.

KETK reports that the sheriff officer pulled over a Houston man with a tail light out shortly after midnight on highway 259.

The driver of the vehicle got into the patrol car at some point during the stop and took off.

A chase ensued ending on highway 315 where the suspect got out and fled on foot.

He was captured after the short foot chase and booked into the Rusk county jail for evading and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
