13.14-Pound Bass Caught on Lake Palestine to Set New Record

Just a few weeks before we head out to Lake Palestine Resort for our Big Bass Bash, Sonny Booth already stole the show.

Booth, who lives in Chandler, caught that behemoth you see up there -- a largemouth bass that set a new Lake Palestine record on Saturday (March 2). The bass weighed in at 13.14 pounds, which not only set a new lake record, but also became the first ShareLunker bass to ever come out of Lake Palestine.

ShareLunkers must weigh at least 13 pounds to qualify.

Booth's catch, which was part of a five-fish stringer of 40.08 pounds, broke a 22-year-old record and almost to the day. Ronald Ebaugh caught a 12.51-pound largemouth bass on Lake Palestine on Feb. 22, 1991.

The Texas record for a largemouth bass was set in 1992 when Barry StClair caught an 18.18-pound bass at Lake Fork, also in East Texas. Seven of the 10 biggest bass in Texas history, including the top six, were caught at Lake Fork.
