10 Best Opening Lyrics [VIDEO]

Our new favorite website, ultimate classicrock.com,  has a story on the 10 best opening lyrics of all time.  Eric Clapton, ZZ Top, Led Zepplin, and Van Halen were all included on the list.  More after the jump.

So what exactly do they mean by "opening lyrics?"

One of our favorite subjects to debate is songs that have the best opening lyrics, the ones that quickly engage the listener for the duration of the song. The right hooks will nail your ears to the radio for repeated listening, segmented into nice three and four minute bursts.

My personal favorite is number 4 on the list according to ultimateclassicrock.com.  The lyrics: "In the days of my youth, I was told what it means to be a man / Now I’ve reached that age, I’ve tried to do all those things the best I can.” You guessed it, Led Zepplin's 'Good Times, Bad Times'

Another favorite of mine is number 5 on their list.  Van Halen's 'Jump':
